If you’re like me, you live in a city somewhere. After all, over 80 percent of North Americans do. And although we love technology—what’s not to love?— we still instinctively seek a relationship with nature. We’ve done so since the beginning of mankind. Sometimes, we just forget how important it is, or think that city life makes it impossible. I find my balance in my garden, in nearby parks and on nature trails. But I have a son, Miles, who is a full-fledged techie tethered to his computer and his Xbox, and a rescued dog, Hunter, who’s developed barrel-belly, so I’m taking them outside to rediscover nature and the plants around us. Please come out with us— I’d like to introduce my urban plant friends; they come with unique recipes and fascinating stories.
